Rope Rescue Operator & Technician Combo Course
June 27, 2023 – July 3, 2023

Course Overview:
This 7-day training will begin with the RRO portion and provide essential field rescue skills in a technical rope rescue environment. Participants will conduct multiple rope-based training exercises and scenarios, including day and night operations, which will build in complexity and responsibility. The second portion of this course, the RRT, is designed to take students from basic over-the-bank rescues to progressively more vertical scenarios. Students learn and practice such skills as preplanning, size-up and scene management, ascending and descending, belaying, mechanical advantage systems, lowering and raising systems, patient packaging and litter attending, tethers, and highlines. Each portion of the course will include leadership skills and decision making opportunities that will be integrated into the group dynamics, equipment logistics, and scene planning aspects of the training. This course is accredited through Rescue 3 International and meets or exceeds the requirements of “NFPA 2500 (formerly 1670) and NFPA 1006 Standards-Rope Operations – Rope Rescue Levels I and II”. This course is designed to meet the needs of multiple industries including S&R, REM, Structure Fire, Wildland Fire, Law Enforcement, Emergency Medical Services, Park Service, Forest Service, Ski Patrol and Military.
